Myra N. Starnes
Leisure Time Unlimited, Inc. is wholly owned by Myra N. Starnes, who received her BA in Art from Columbia College. After spending a summer in Myrtle Beach where she was crowned Miss Myrtle Beach, a decision was made to move to the area in order to honor her title’s requirements. Myra held a variety of jobs until she started Leisure Time Unlimited, Inc. in 1976 as a local tour operator.
Myra is very active in the industry with memberships to IAEM, MPI, NACS, and STS and was one of the 100 founders of the International Special Events Society. She is a graduate of Leadership Grand Strand, was a Good Heart recipient from the Heart Association and served 5 years on the Board of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center during the planning and completion of one of the most modern centers in the Southeast. In 1989, she was the first recipient of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award bestowed by Coastal Carolina University, Craig Wall School of Business.
Ms. Starnes has served on numerous committees ranging from the State Transportation Association as Founding President; the Convention Center Committee (prior to and during the expansion); The Pavilion Area Task Forces and served as the county appointee to the Partners Economic Development Board to name a few. She currently serves on the Horry County Airport Committee and the Downtown Redevelopment Commission.
